The Harvest Farm Fall Festival has been a family tradition for us since we became a family. My kids love to be outside, so the animals are a huge win, and my son's tractor obsession means the hay ride is serious business for us.
Last year the baby was so new that we didn't even get a picture of her sleeping in the ergo carrier while the rest of us enjoyed the petting zoo, maze, hay wagon ride, food trucks, and all the other great activities. If there's one good thing about babies growing up, it's seeing them start to participate more and enjoy interacting with the world, so I am excited to take them back in October!
Here's the list of attractions for this year's festival:
Located in Wellington, Harvest Farm is a rehabilitation center run by the Denver Rescue Mission for men who have struggled with homelessness and drug dependance. Its goals are to break the cycles of addiction and prepare men to rejoin society as self-reliant individuals through anger management, vocational, and other life-skills training. What a great opportunity the Fall Festival is to support that mission!
I always love hearing the personal stories, so another great reason to take the hay ride is the opportunity to tour the farm with someone who has participated in the program, who can share his personal account in addition to showing you around the farm.
In the beauty surrounding Fort Collins' Horsetooth Reservoir, Dave and four-year-old son David IV, otherwise known as "D," cast their fishing lines into the water below. Most days they leave with nothing more than a few bites, but Dave doesn't care. The New Life Program graduate relishes lazy afternoons with his son, "a cute little guy," who is one of Dave's main motivations to win the battle against alcohol abuse....
Six years ago, scared and alone, Tim spent his first night at the Lawrence Street Shelter. It was winter and the city was blanketed with snow. He had just stepped off the bus from Grand Junction, drunk, hoping to find solace in his mother's home.
"I called my mom from the bus station, and she said, 'This is the bed you've made.' It was tough love, and it was exactly what I needed..."
Step 2) Comment on this post, tagging at least one friend you'd love to take to the festival!
Bonus: You will receive one additional entry for each friend that you tag who enters the contest.
The winner will be selected by random draw of our “Facebook friends” on September 20. We will get in touch with them promptly for delivery of the tickets (they are physical tickets). If we get no response after one week we will move on to the next winner.
